Dato' Dr Nik Ramlah has retired as Deputy Chief Executive of Securities Commission Malaysia ("SC") in March 2016. She was appointed Deputy Chief Executive of the SC and member of the Commission on 1 April 2012. She joined the SC in 1993 as Manager of Law Reform and went on to become Director of the Policy and Development Division in 1997. In 2008, she was made Managing Director and Executive Director of the Enforcement Division. Prior to joining the SC, Dato' Dr Nik Ramlah was an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. Dato' Dr Nik Ramlah has been instrumental in developing many areas of the capital market. She has extensive experience in areas ranging from regulatory policy, legal reform, product and market development, corporate governance, Islamic capital market, investor education and enforcement. Dato' Dr Nik Ramlah is a member of the Board of Directors of Perbadanan Insurans Deposit Malaysia, the Securities Industry Development Corporation and Amanah Saham Nasional Berhad. She is also a member of the Professional Development Panel (Senate) of INCEIF, the global university for Islamic finance and an Adjunct Professor at the Faculty of Law, Universiti Teknologi MARA.
