We are pleased to announce that the Board of Directors of Axiata Group Berhad (“Axiata”) had on 17 February 2011 resolved on the appointment of Ann Almeida as a member of the Board Nomination Committee ("BNC") and Board Remuneration Committee ("BRC") of Axiata.

Ms Almeida, originally Malaysian and now based in the United Kingdom, is the Group Head of Human Resources, HSBC Holdings plc. She has been one of the Group Managing Directors of the HSBC Group since February 2008 and her remit is extended this year to include oversight of corporate sustainability. She joined HSBC in 1992 and was appointed a Group General Manager in 2007. Since 1996 Ms Almeida has been Director, HR for the Investment Bank, Transaction Bank, Private Bank, Islamic Bank and Asset Management, before taking up her present role. As the Group Head of Human Resources since July 2007, she was charged with developing the HSBC Group's People Strategy which covered nurturing the HSBC Group's performance culture, talent management and achieving the Group’s employee engagement ambitions across HSBC's 300,000 people around the world.

Following the above, the composition of the BNC and BRC are as follows:-

1. Tan Sri Ghazzali Sheikh Abdul Khalid - Chairman/Independent Non-Executive Director;
2. Datuk Azzat Kamaludin - Member/ Independent Non-Executive Director;
3. Dr Farid Mohamed Sani - Member/Non-Independent Non-Executive Director; and
4. Ann Almeida – Independent Member.
