On behalf of the Board of Directors of Axiata, Maybank Investment Bank Berhad wishes to announce that Axiata has been informed by Digi Telecommunications Sdn Bhd (“DigiTel”) that, subsequent to Digi’s announcement on 21 June 2021, DigiTel has initiated the engagement with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (“MCMC”) for the merger assessment process in accordance with MCMC’s Guidelines on Mergers and Acquisitions (the “Guidelines”) in relation to the Proposed Merger (“Merger Application”), and DigiTel’s Merger Application has been formally received by MCMC for its assessment in accordance with the Guidelines.
The completion of the Proposed Merger will be amongst others, also subject to approval of the Securities Commission Malaysia and the shareholders of Axiata and Digi.
